You’re walking to your car after work. It’s late. The air smells like rain, and the world feels unusually quiet. You unlock the door, toss your bag inside and that’s when you see it.

A small envelope, tucked under your windshield wiper.

Your name is written on the front.

Inside, one line:

“I’ve seen the way you smile when you think no one’s watching. That’s how I knew it had to be you.”

No return address. No signature. Just those words and a strange little thrill in your chest.

Now what?

Do you crumple it up and pretend it didn’t happen?
