Top 5 Romance Tropes I Love to Write About

When it comes to romance, certain tropes never fail to steal my heart—and they’re just as fun to write as they are to read! Here are my top five favorite romance tropes and why I love weaving them into my stories:

1. Enemies to Lovers

There’s nothing quite like the sizzling tension between two characters who think they hate each other—until they don’t. The banter, the slow burn, and the moment they finally give in? Pure magic.

2. Forced Proximity

Whether they’re stuck in a snowstorm or roommates against their will, putting two characters in close quarters always leads to explosive chemistry and heartfelt connections.

3. Second Chance Romance

Love isn’t always perfect the first time. Writing about couples who find their way back to each other lets me explore themes of growth, forgiveness, and rekindling that undeniable spark.

4. Grumpy/Sunshine Pairings

There’s something irresistible about pairing a brooding, guarded hero with a light-hearted, optimistic heroine (or vice versa). Opposites attract, and it’s always a joy to see them find common ground.

5. Friends to Lovers

Watching two characters realize the person they’ve been searching for has been by their side all along? Heartwarming, relatable, and endlessly satisfying.
